WHAT IS MET?

MET is a wraparound education and equine program. The term "wraparound" refers to the comprehensive support provided to students through a variety of services, including academic assistance, leadership coaching, and practical life skills training.

Our organization combines education with equine activities to provide a holistic and fun approach to learning, personal development and more. Our Alternative Learning Program (ALP) has become a staple of success to the students of MET. ALP provides education programs focused on STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math), Career Development, Financial Literacy, Creative Thinking, Literature, and more. All classes build upon students’ equestrian experience and is combined with horse-related activities to provide a unique and engaging learning experience for youth. Click here to learn more.

Through MET, our equine component of MET's programs involves working with horses to promote and strengthen athletic skills, engage in positive team environments, build self-esteem, and develop interpersonal skills. Students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning experiences that help them develop a sense of responsibility and leadership. They also learn to work collaboratively with others, communicate effectively, and develop a deep understanding of their own emotions and those of others. MET's equine activities both in and out of the saddle have shown to demonstrate a positive effect for students socially and emotionally.. By working with horses, students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and learn coping mechanisms that can help them navigate difficult situations in their daily lives.

MET provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about animal care and husbandry. This hands-on experience can help students develop a sense of responsibility and empathy for animals, as well as an appreciation for the world in many ways. For the past 13 years, MET has provided proven success with all of our current programs, along with over $1.7M in college scholarships.
